Procedure Details

Dysport®, botulinum toxin type A, is derived from bacteria and purified for blocking nerve impulses to the muscles. By providing a barrier, the muscles are relaxed, causing wrinkles to smooth out for a refreshed appearance. While similar to BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport® has a different formulation, which requires its own dosage level to achieve the desired results. Both injectables spread differently and have differing effect rates.

Injection Process

If requested, ice or a topical numbing anesthetic can be applied before your injection but is not necessary. Dysport® is strategically administered using a very thin needle to address targeted areas. Only specific muscles that result in facial wrinkles are weakened, leaving your natural facial expressions intact. Treatment injections are quickly completed, usually within 15 minutes. The areas being addressed will vary, so each process is customized to meet every patient’s unique needs. Your facial features and the extent of your fine lines will determine how many injections are required to achieve your desired results.

Recovery Guide

There is no recovery time after receiving a Dysport® treatment, but it is recommended that the injection site is not rubbed and that patients take the rest of the day off from physical activity. Some patients experience mild symptoms after receiving Dysport® such as minor bruising, a slight pinching sensation, swelling, and irritation. If you experience these sensations, they should dissipate within two days.

Expected Results

You may notice results within a few days, and it can take up to one week for results to take full effect. Patients have reported a softer look, quick results, longer-lasting effects after multiple treatments, and virtually nonexistent adverse reactions. Results typically remain between three and six months, leaving your skin with a rested, rejuvenated appearance.
