Liposuction in Weston, Florida
Liposuction is a surgical procedure designed to slim and shape the body by removing unwanted fat deposits from specific areas. Even after following a strict diet and exercise routine, many people are still left with areas of stubborn fat. Liposuction provides men and women of all ages with the slender, more attractive bodies they desire, which leads to an increase in confidence and self-esteem.
Who Can Benefit?
Excessive Fat Pockets
Fat tends to accumulate in specific trouble areas and creates bulges. These pockets of fat commonly develop on the abdomen, hips, knees, neck, thighs, and upper arms.
Post-Pregnancy Weight Gain
Pregnancy causes numerous changes in the body, including an increase in fat that is difficult to eliminate after the baby is born. This accumulation of fat is often most apparent in the abdomen and hips.
Poor Muscle Visibility
Some people exercise and build muscle tone but have little results to show. This may be because a layer of fat is covering the muscles and preventing their definition from showing through.
What Do You Desire?
A Wider Variety of Clothing Options
Stubborn fat may be preventing you from being physically and emotionally comfortable in your clothing. After liposuction, you can feel comfortable and confident wearing a wider variety of clothing options that show off your new, more slender figure.
Flatter, More Defined Abdomen
The abdomen is one of the most difficult areas to slim down, leaving many people feeling as though they will be stuck with their stubborn belly pooch and love handles forever. Liposuction can eliminate excess fat accumulations from the entire midsection for a flatter, more defined abdomen and slimmer waist.
Confidence
Lacking confidence in your appearance often leads to low self-esteem, which may prevent you from engaging in social activities or from being motivated to pursue your goals. After liposuction, the majority of patients report an increase in confidence and an improvement in their overall quality of life.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
AM I A CANDIDATE FOR LIPOSUCTION?
The best candidates for liposuction are physically healthy and have good skin elasticity. Ideal patients are at or near their goal weight but have areas of excess fat that are resistant to diet and exercise. Patients with diminished skin elasticity may benefit from combining liposuction with another body contouring procedure such as a body lift or tummy tuck to remove excess skin.

DOES DR. MESSA PERFORM TRADITIONAL LIPOSUCTION?
Dr. Messa performs several fairly new techniques that offer many benefits over traditional liposuction. These techniques include internal and external ultrasound-assisted liposuction and tumescent liposuction, and they offer a faster recovery and more precise results compared to traditional techniques.
-
HOW IS LIPOSUCTION PERFORMED?
The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis with either local anesthesia, general anesthesia, or intravenous sedation. Dr. Messa begins by making small incisions in the treatment area(s). For ultrasound-assisted liposuction, Dr. Messa inserts a probe to liquefy the fat cells before they are suctioned out through a narrow tube called a cannula. For the tumescent technique, a fluid containing saline, lidocaine, and epinephrine is injected into the fatty tissues before they are suctioned out. Once Dr. Messa removes all the necessary fat, he closes the incisions with sutures.
-
HOW LONG DOES THE PROCEDURE TAKE?
Liposuction generally takes between one and two hours to complete. The amount of time needed varies based on the technique used, the amount of fat being removed, and the size of the treatment area.
-
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE UNTIL I SEE MY FINAL RESULTS?
You will notice an immediate improvement in the shape of your body after surgery, but the final results may take up to six months to become visible once all residual swelling has resolved.
